My mom turned 61 years old today. And she is a perfect mother. I am so thankful for her. If I could only become a part of who she is I will be happy. She is patient, humble, selfless, unconditionally loving, intelligent, funny, speaks 3.5 languages (Spanish comes and goes :), sews anything from fancy curtains, high school dance dresses, my wedding dress, Halloween costumes, silent books, you name it, she is a whiz on the computer, she takes millions of pictures, she drives safe (... really, really slow :), doesn't hold grudges, forgives everyone, doesn't worry about worldly things, would do anything for her family, finds awesome deals at garage sales (never been used chocolate fountain still in the box, $5), has perfect handwriting, is an amazing oil painter, puts her mind to something and perfects it, easy to laugh, slow to anger, and basically fits every
description given (vs 45) about charity . I love my sweet mom. I am who I am because of her.

Tomorrow is the big day for my dad's surgery. Thank you to everyone who has kept him in your thoughts and prayers. I'm far away from him right now, out of the country, on a tiny island, in the ocean, and he is all the way in snowy Utah. I pray every night that the love that I have in my heart will reach his heart and I really believe that this works. Families have a special way of feeling close even when thousands of miles are in between. I've said before that I feel the roles have changed. Instead of my mom and dad worrying about me and my safety, health, and well-being, I find myself worrying about them. They are constantly on my mind.
