Work Christmas Parties

Last weekend we had both of our work Christmas parties. Kirk Freeport's was at the Marriott and the dental office had a luncheon at Dr. Veit's house. Both were pretty fun and we hardly had to spend money on groceries that weekend because there was a whole lot of food.

Marla and Steve are the cutest couple. We shared a table with them. They've been married just under a year.

Jeff was our date. We hung out with him quite a bit while Kieren was in Utah and he was finishing up finals before going up to meet her and the kids. It was probably boring for him because he didn't know anyone, but hopefully the free food was worth it!

Jamie and Casey are leaving in two weeks. I am dreading that day. Elder and Sister Pack are leaving this week and that is going to be very hard. I'm trying not even to think about it. There are way too many goodbyes on this island. Before we know it it will be our turn. Neither of us are looking forward to that at all.

I enjoyed seeing all of my friends from the jewelry store and the wonderful people that David works with.

The next day was my office party. I absolutely love the people I work with. It's so fun to have an office of a bunch of girls (and the Dr.) and we are all really close. By the way, the new dentist we hired got fired after being there a week- making two people fired in the space of two weeks (honestly an interesting fellow. I actually questioned if he was even a dentist at times. I'll spare the details, but let's just say he was fired because he was supposed to prepare a tooth for a crown, ended up drilling a post in crooked and had to extract the tooth. When he extracted the tooth he didn't simply take it out, but ended up cutting bone and making it even more of a mess. I felt so bad for the poor girl. She is young too. I think it is so sad when someone loses a tooth! To top it all off the Dr. charged her five times what he should have. So, needless to say, he is not fit for our office. I sure hope this is the end of the firing because I really like my job- even if it has been very stressful lately!).

This is Grisel (dental assistant), her mom, and her daughter. They are all from Cuba. Can't you tell these three ladies are related? They look so much alike!

Yaisle (dental assistan) and Pedro are one of the cutest couples. Yaisle is trying to get pregnant. I sure hope she has a baby soon! She wants a child more than anyone I know. She has a heart of gold and also the longest, thickest eyelashes I have ever seen. They are from Cuba as well.

Alysha is a hygienist from Canada. For some reason her personality reminds me of Chelsea Goodman at times.

Kristy (hygienist) and her husband Sean are from Canada also. They are the ones that have the cats. They are going to Costa Rica in the next couple of months and have asked us to babysit the cats again. I cannot wait to live on that beach again!

Lyana is probably the one that I am closest with. She is from Costa Rica and is the office manager and accountant. She is from Costa Rica and is actually a dentist herself. She was Miss teen Costa Rica back in the day, has a bachelor's degree in marketing, went to school for advertising, and also went to dental school. She's very smart. Her husband and David surf together. We love hanging out with them. They are such nice people.

We had a secret santa gift exchange which was quite fun and then enjoyed all of the delicious food and even had extras to take home.

This cake was HUGE. I think it was big enough to feed fifty people.

I'll be baking Christmas goodies here pretty soon to give out to friends from the branch. Christmas cards are sent out also, which I am relieved of. If you don't get one it is because you never emailed me for your address. :)
