We Work a Lot

We've been busy with work lately.

I love this picture of David with Store 2. He has a great relationship with the girls. The other day he went snorkeling during his lunch hour. When he came into one of the stores he was soaking wet and told the girls he had fallen in the sea. They really believed him and were so worried about him. I thought it was cute. He also recently burned them some Christmas Reggae music. You've got to hear the Little Drummer Boy with the Caribbean twist. It's very funny.

There has been some drama at Dr. Wolfe's office. Two co-workers got in an argument... result: one being fired. Crazy. I have never been in a situation like that. Apparently the big bad Wolfe doesn't waste anytime and is known for firing employees without a blink of the eye which is also why I haven't been blogging or emailing much while at work. >I get nervous now that I have twice the responsibility on my shoulders and for the first time with this job I cried. David bets that it won't be the last time either. But, even though the job has been crazy and I find myself thinking about it after work and even dreaming about it, I am still grateful for my job. I love dentistry, the hours are great, and I can't complain that I don't get taxed. This economic crisis scares me and I feel so blessed that David and I have had such great job opportunities while we've been out here.

In other news...

Thanksgiving was great this year. We got together with about 25 other people- mostly from the branch (med student couples, fellow Americans, and single members without family on the island). I've never been a huge fan of turkey, but for some reason I loved it this year. It was so moist and flavorful. I should also add that I have made six pumpkin pies within the last week and there is not one piece left in my fridge. Have I mentioned that we go through food phases?

We saw the movie Australia tonight. Brick House pizza has a buy one get one half off sale on Tuesday nights for their delicious pizzas- comparable to California Pizza Kitchen- and the old cinema has a buy one get one free movie night on Tuesdays also. So, we enjoyed a rather inexpensive date night and forgot about our jobs for a few hours. I loved the movie by the way.

Well, there is my blog for the week. Maybe this weekend's double trouble of company Christmas parties will make for a more interesting post next week. Christmas time is the best. We put up our little tree with our big, colorful lights. The feeling of having the lights off and the tree lit up is so wonderful. It's like all of my Christmas memories come flooding back to me every night. My evening food phase lately has been using my mini snowman tea pot with mini mugs for hot chocolate or chocolate milk. Oh and there is a plate that looks like a present that goes along with it. We've also already watched Christmas Vacation, Home Alone, Mr. Kruegger's Christmas, and the Nativity short video and there are many more on the list to watch. I really can't get enough of this holiday season!

Now I can't wait to see Australia. I'm excited. I'm so opposite of you this Christmas season. I am dreading putting up my decorations. I can't get myself to do it! Also- I can totally picture David telling the girls he fell into the sea. He's so funny!

Christmas really is the best isn't it. I've been trying really hard to help it feel like Christmas at home. Calli and I have been doing cheesy Christmas crafts and playing Christmas music but I really need it cold outside to believe it is December I think. We might have to borrow some of your Christmas movies when Rob is done with his finals next week or better yet maybe you guys could come over and watch one with us! :) By the way you guys are doing awesome with the primary. You all work so hard. I'm excited for the program on Sunday.

I am glad that you took a break and went to a movie. I hope that your job gets back to normal soon. I'v been worried about you. Hey we need to get together with all the girls to see Twilight. Do you know if it is here yet? I'll talk to you Sunday. If there is anything I can do to help with the primary program let me know. I know it will be great.

That picture of david with all the girls is hilarious! and i forgot to mention in my email to you about your work situation. I'm sorry but I can't help but think of how funny it is. I think back to the past dentists I've worked for and they were all crazy psychos and they made me laugh all day long. I'm sure your work is like that too. They certainly can't expect you to do two jobs, so anything extra you do is helping them out.

Your christmas photos are beautiful shalynna. It looks like you had a better photographer than me. I am so embarrassed all the pics I took of you were blurry!
