Long Distance Relationships Never Work Out

I found out soon after I was married, that the dating does not end after the wedding day. Together David and I went on to date other couples. We've joked about this with Kody and Larisa, but when you think about it you realize this concept is quite true. You and your husband may not hang out with your good friend Sally because her husband and yours don't mesh that well. He may be a Utah fan while your husband is a BYU fan, or he might ski while your husband snowboards. You may not enjoy being with his best friend Bill because his wife is quiet and there isn't much to talk about with her. You may go on a few courtesy dates with them, but if they call again you respond with, "We have plans, " or, "Maybe another time." If they notice that you are being distant you may even have to resort to the phrase, "It's not you guys, it's us." It's a sad world when you have to break up with another couple, but it's even more sad when you have to say goodbye to another couple.

Kody and Larisa have been our very best friends out here in Grand Cayman. The first day we met them they invited us for a BBQ. Since then, we have gone on many "dates" and our relationship went from "going out" to "going steady".  We found that we had similar interests- David and Kody both love to surf while Larisa and I enjoy cooking. We all went to BYU, Kody and David majored in pre-medicine and Larisa and I share an interest in dentistry. David and Kody laugh and joke with each other and Larisa has been a crying shoulder for me. We've been through thick and thin, laughs and tears, and now they are leaving us. We don't expect them to stay here just for us, nor do we expect them to be as upset as we are, but we do expect our relationship to last.

So many people say that long distance relationships never work out, but we will make this work. We love Kody and Larisa, yes we use the word Love, and we will surely miss them.

This is the funniest post. And Shalynna I feel the same way. It is so fun when you find a couple that you both enjoy. Eric and I have "dated" a lot. The break ups have been many, but lately I feel like we are two-timing some of our couples!

I totally agree! Sometimes I feel like I am on the prowl searching for new couple friends. It's weird that it is harder than normal dating!
