What We'll Miss about Cayman: Part 2

Work.

Even though I complain about having to work full-time (I don't have a very good work ethic :), I will definitely miss work. I will miss the girls that I work with, I will miss the paychecks of course (CI and no tax, I'll take that any day), and of course I'll miss being in a dental office (I love dentistry).

This photo is from a dinner that was held for the medical and dental society on the island.

Lyana (Costa Rica), Grisel (Cuba), Me, Kristy (Canada), and Yaisle (Cuba)
Alysha, Jamie (Canada) and Dr. Veit (US) are not pictured.

{Dr. Veit told Kristy and I that it was casual wear, and then we found out that he told the other girls that it was formal. I decided to wear a skirt, but then dressed it down with a t-shirt so that I wouldn't be too dressed up, then later found out that Grisel and Yaisle are wearing their wedding dresses! Why did he tell us complete opposite dressing standards? Don't ask me.}

When you spend several hours of your week with the same people, you become close no matter what. Grisel and Yaisle will always tease me for my Spanish speaking attempts (I guess the way I say Pedro is hilarious to Cubans?). They bring the most delicious hot meals for lunch every single day- complete with sides and everything. I'll miss tasting their food everyday. I'll also miss their compliments on my birthday treats. Grisel told me how worried she is that no one will make her a birthday cake since I'm moving- I'm not the only one who bakes for the office, but the fact that she remembers my desserts just makes me feel good.

Alysha and Jamie are single, so their crazy weekend stories are always fun to hear.

Kristy is the owner of the cats. She and her husband are so generous to have had us stay at their place several times to watch their beloved animals. Plus they were kind enough to pay us, give us gift certificates, and bring back souvenires for us each time they went away.

Lyana. She is hilarious. She reminds me of Celeste (and sometimes Celeste's mom) at times. She is a genious (studied dentistry in Costa Rica and is a licensed dentist) and probably the most patient person I know. The few times she has gotten annoyed or frustrated is actually really cute because it never happens! I have so much to learn from her.

I'm sure David will miss his job too. At times it was the most stressful thing- some weeks he'd work 50 + hours a week if you include emailing corporate even after work, and several days he went without taking a lunch break. If the alarm company thought an alarm wasn't set, David would drive at night to double check and the majority of the time the alarm was in fact set. He didn't take a sick day for the first 20 months of the job- that is how devoted he is! It will be nice for him to get back to school and relieve him from the stress of the job, but I know he will miss the employees. Several of them are telling him that they are going to quit when he leaves. What a sweet compliment. :)

I'm going to post some things that we won't miss about the island here pretty soon. There won't be many since everything seems perfect to us right now, but of course there are things that we are happy to leave behind (like people cutting in line at the grocery store. It makes me soooooooooooo mad).

I'm so curious what you two have been up to! Did you just find jobs after Del Sol and find a new place and start your life there? You guys are such a fun couple!
