The week was busy. Every night we had some sort of last thing to do with close friends. The dental office took me out to dinner and gave me an envelope of cash to spend on Baby. It was so generous. I started crying at the front of the card, even before I read what was inside. David's bosses threw a surprise luncheon and his immediate boss took us out to lunch and gave us each perfume/cologne. The branch had a game night and potluck that turned into a going away party- even more tears. A sweet older couple from the branch took us to eat on East end (see previous post's photos) and told us a bit about Italy for our upcoming trip. We were spoiled. Maybe that is why we didn't think to take time during the week to prepare. We stayed up until 2:00 am on Saturday packing and cleaning. I don't know how in the world we accumulated so much stuff even after selling and donating most of it and I also don't know what we were thinking by putting off packing and cleaning for the night before. Sunday we wrote our talks, spoke in church and tried our hardest not to cry the entire time, and then said goodbye to our cherished friends. I felt like I was leaving a mission or something.
I am taking a piece of each of the branch members in my heart with me for the rest of my life.
We flew out after our talks, had a stopover in Charlotte, NC, landed in D.C., rented a car and drove 2.5 hours to my brother's house. Woke up my adorable nieces and nephews to say hi, rearranged luggage and left most if there, and took about a 4 hour nap before we had to leave again this morning at 5:00AM. We drove the 2.5 hours back to D.C. to drop off the car and catch our flight to Paris, with a 5 hour layover in Philadelphia. The fact that it was cheaper for us to fly from D.C. with a stopover in PA before Paris instead of flying from PA to Paris boggles my mind. We will arrive in France tomorrow morning.
The next three weeks we'll be in France, Italy, and Spain. We'll then spend a week in PA and New York with my family, stop in UT for a couple days for the big ultrasound, and then head to California for several days before schools starts. I feel like we aren't stopping for a straight month, which is good because it will get my mind off of leaving the island.
The belly has officially popped a bit and I definitely look pregnant. I love feeling Baby inside and I can't wait until we can finally say he or she.
See you in a few weeks!
