Miami Trip

This past weekend David and I went to Miami with our friends from the branch. Walter works for Cayman Airways and was able to get us some buddy passes for a great deal. Ondina is one of my closest friends out here. She will randomly come over at night with a couple of the kids and we just talk forever. She is 29 and has five kids (and has a rockin body). Only one of the kids came on the trip, Walter Jr (12 yrs), and he pretty much only came so they could check more luggage. :)

The main reason we went was to Christmas shop and Christmas shop we did. We were there for just over 24 hours and we went to probably 24 stores. You won't believe what we found in Miami. You won't believe it. This brings me to the first HIGHLIGHT of the trip...

When we first got there and got into our rental car we headed over to a discount mall with a Ross, Marshall's, and other cheapy stores that would be a waste of time to most people, but not to me. This mall soon became my favorite place once I read a sign that said:

Last Chance bargain shoes and apparel.

Can you believe it? My sister Aisalene thinks it was placed there especially for me. I could not contain myself. I went crazy.

When we met at the airport Walter, Ondina, and Junior only had three carry ons. They had one tiny roll away suitcase, and two side bag things. I thought they were kind of a weird shape until they explained that they were coolers to bring back food. They also said that the coolers were full of empty bags for the way home.

After shopping that day we got to the hotel pretty late. It was freezing to us! Walter was so cold that he put on his new suit jacket from last Chance. After loading up the luggage I had to take picture because he looked just like a bell boy. They spent hours organizing everything they bought. They did all of their grocery shopping and Christmas shopping this week for their family of seven. Each of them had five huge bags to check by the end of the trip.

HIGHLIGHT: Walter falling for one of those scams at a kiosk at the mall. He bought that little fury worm thing that gives the illusion that it is moving around on your arm. He paid $15 and was pretty mad when he got it and found that it was a fir worm connected to fishing wire. He was so mad in fact that he went back, grabbed the guy by the collar (like bullies do in the movies), and threatened to stand by the kiosk all day to tell everyone the secret and that it was a scam. Right before they were going to call security on him they decided to give him some of his money back. Ondina and I were thinking that he deserved to pay so much money because he is the one who fell for it and chose to buy it!

David and I realized that we did not take ANY pictures during the trip. It must have been because we were shopping so much. We went to Last Chance, Ross x 2, Marshall's x2, Wal*Mart, Costco x2, Good Will, David got a haircut somewhere, Loehman's, Target, Forever 21, surf shop x2, Polo store, a flea market, and we ended the trip by making one last stop at Last Chance. Which was a good thing because I got jeans with a tag that read $319 and paid a measly $60, and we bought Tommy Bahama dress pants for David and my dad originally priced for over a hundred dollars and we paid $7. Seven dollars! That is why I love that place.

One last thing I want to say about Miami. It was my first time there and I had no idea that it was basically a little Cuba. I'm talking most employees at these stores didn't speak English! They would automatically speak to you in Spanish. I felt like I was in another country. It's a good thing I love Cubans. I really do love them. They are some of the nicest people in the world.

Walter wants to take us to Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica next. I'm pretty sure I am going to do everything possible so that we can go!
