A Day to Celebrate Celeste

Every single memory I have from the year 2000 involves Celeste. She is someone that I love so much that I have even thought about naming a future daughter after her. Could anyone ever ask for a better friend than Celeste?

I would estimate about 75 to 80% of my laughter in my entire life was with Celeste. It was no guess that she would win Funniest in ninth grade. Does anyone else remember her picture in the yearbook with Brian Fukomoto? They are climbing a fence and Celeste only has one shoe on.

Celeste also has also always been the fittest of all of our friends. She used to go to the gym and run miles and miles a day. I remember in ninth grade I imagined "the gym" as a place where guys weren't wearing shirts, girls were in sports bras, and everyone was high fiving each other when they passed. I imagined people tossing water bottles to one another and music in the background. I used to think Celeste was so cool for being apart of this, so naturally I joined the gym with her too. It wasn't what I expected, but it was always fun to workout with Celeste and spend half the time "doing abs" on the mats, which typically consisted of us both laying on our mats talking and laughing.

We shared a locker from ninth grade to our senior year. I used to leave her little surprises such as an orange and a note that said, "Orange you glad we are best friends." One time she was trying to be creative and left me a skittles with a note that said, "Love ya skittles!" Who knows where in the world she got that nickname from. :)

We spent a lot of time with Heather Hollis also. But, Heather would always talk about Jessica Nance when we were around. Oh dear Heather, why were Celeste and I never good enough?

There was the random time when we drove to Tempe Town Lake for the fourth of July with Alexa (I don't remember her name and I never really hung out with her, but she was really pretty with long hair. Anyway, for some reason she came out with Celeste and I) and her jeep overheated. We had to pull over and get a ride from random people that we had never met to Mill Avenue. We were so stupid. The weird thing was that one of the girls in the car was a girl that worked at Charlotte Rouse that helped me in the dressing rooms that exact day. Crazy.

We were a crazy little pair. We used to hang out at Luke's house (I don't remember his last name either) and when we would leave his house we'd sneak in his pantry and stuff our purses with fruit roll ups and other snacks that they had. Now that I think back on that, I am so ashamed!

Celeste also came up to Utah to visit a few times, which was always. Then our summers were spent working together at Dr. Cooper's office. I am so glad that we have one another to share our crazy stories about work with. It makes it so much more fun when someone else can relate.

Celeste and I are opposites in many ways. She's a blonde, I'm a brunette. She is athletic, I am not. We used to have completely opposite emotions. I would cry at every little thing and she never used to shed a tear. I remember one time we watched the movie Charlie and it had been close to year since I'd seen her cry. When I saw her get sad during the movie it literally made me start to cry hysterically!

Now Celeste is all grown up, married, and has her own beautiful house and we live very far away. But, it won't be long until I see her again and until then I hope that she has the best birthday ever.

I don't think she reads my blog very often, but that does not mean that she doesn't deserve a birthday post. I just love her so much, and everyone that knows her feels the same.

That post is so funny. I don't know many of the people you talk about with me that well, but you are so good at telling stories and making me laugh - almost as if I was there! Celeste is sooooooo funny. I was always so amazed how you two were such good friends when you're complete opposites!

Shalynna! You are the sweetest best friend ever. Kelly was down last week and we got together a couple times and one night she says to me, "have you seen shalynna's blog lately?" and i told her no i had not. and she said "Oh okay that make sense. She has a new posting for your birthday, and i noticed you hadn't commented on it yet" I felt so bad. Your detailed memory always amazes me. Whenever i try telling Chris a story from the past and i can't remember it too well i always say "shalynna would know the story perfectly, i should call her"
