I love sushi for the following reasons:1) It is delicious.
2) It is colorful and has a unique presentation.
3) There are so many different things to try.
4) My neice Makenna likes sushi and she's only two.
5) David took me to a sushi restaurant for our first date.
6) My engagement ring was given to me on a plate of sushi at the same sushi restaurant ten months later.
So, it is always a good thing when we choose to go out for sushi for date night.
It has been pouring all weekend to the point that we were literally driving in puddles on our way to church. The water was up to the door! It is a nice change. The blue sky and sun is wonderful, but every once in a while I like the feeling of staying in doors, making some sort of comfort food (yummy taco soup this time- thank you Asialene) and watching movies (okay I guess I do that even when it is sunny outside. I can't help that I can watch two or three movies in one day and not feel bad about it).
Not much is new out here. Today we were invited to a big bbq with friends from Del Sol. It was supposed to be in honor of two of the employees for their birthdays and was only costing everyone $25 per couple to go (kind of weird to invite someone and then charge them, but I do understand because groceries are so expensive out here). Well, I decided not to buy anything to make for Sunday dinner for obvious reasons. When we woke up we received a cancellation call that the dinner was going to be postponed because of weather. So, David and I had to be pretty creative with our Sunday dinner. I wasn't about to take my dad's advice every time my mom was out of town in high school, "Try to get someone to invite us to dinner" is what he'd say and then he'd hint to the Goodman for Farnsworth family, "Yeah, Angelina's out of town and it's just the girls and I today..." My dad has no shame. I sure love him. Anyway, we also tried not to be jealous when Casey and Jamie got invited to both lunch and dinner at two different houses! I guess we are old news to the branch now that we've been here for a year. :) It did end up being a fun afternoon as we scrounged around the kitchen for some sort of meal. I made eggs over easy (seasoned with Old Bay just like my dad makes them- remember, Karla?) and rice and David had a frozen salmon fillet that I got on sale a long time ago with the same rice and green beans. My fridge and cupboards were completely empty, but for some reason I had all the ingredients to make pumpkin bread with cream cheese frosting. A very eclectic meal indeed. David seemed to be pretty used to the situation. I can't believe he went for so many years on a mission and in college eating bowls of cereal and frozen chicken pot pies for Sunday dinners. Good thing he has me now to make him delicious meals such as rice, eggs, frozen salmon, and pumpkin bars.
