Friday was our anniversary. So much has happened since that perfect day last spring, but we still cannot believe we've been married for a full year. We had been looking forward to our anniversary for a while and had the entire day planned out. I've been known to remember what I (and other people I'm with) wear during different occasions. It's a talent I didn't ask for and has not really done me any good, so maybe a blog post of outfits will be one way I can utilize this talent. Can you tell by our outfits what we did on our special day?
We started the day off by playing tennis. It was so much fun. David was very encouraging and I think I am really getting the hang of this sport. He said the first time I beat him he'll buy me a tennis bracelet. You will all hear about that if it ever happens.
We then enjoyed a very relaxing afternoon at Seven Mile Beach. David loves these old man swim shorts. We got them at Last Chance for $5. They are shorter than most swim shorts and have an elastic waistband which are two reasons why he loves them. His only regret is that he didn't purchase the red and white striped pair also.
If you look closely at this picture you can see the forks, little goblets, and fake menus. These are clues that we wore these outfits when we went out to dinner. We went to our most favorite restaurant Calypso Grill. I've said it once and I'll say it again: This is the most delicious restaurant and you wouldn't be wasting your money if you came out here just to eat there. I got the spinach and crab stuffed grouper while David enjoyed snapper Monte Carlo (He chose it because their is was a tennis tournament in Monte Carlo this week. He's so obsessed.).
The restaurant is located on the water and we sat outside on the deck. I wish I took more pictures of this place because the atmosphere is one reason why I love it so much, but I guess it means you will all just have to come out here to experience it for yourselves.
This is a picture of our anniversary gifts. We bought this watch a couple weeks ago. It's pretty much his anniversary, birthday and Christmas gift for the next couple of years. It was actually a good investment because we saved a lot by getting it at Kirk Freeport and the price has already gone up- these are things we tell ourselves so we don't feel bad. But really, David deserves this watch and every other watch there is. He hasn't gotten anything new for almost a year! Plus, how can you put a price on making someone so happy? I think it should be a new tradition that since the husband spends so much money on the wife's diamond ring, he should get a new watch.

The little pink number is one of my most prized possessions. It's a Juicy Couture, very versatile, Barbie pink one piece. Can we all agree that cute one pieces are very hard to come by? The photo does not do this gorgeous piece of work any justice. It's hard to notice the gathering on the sides or the ruffle skirt bottom, but this is what you get because I am not about to post a picture of me in a swimsuit on this blog.

I think it should be a new tradition that since the husband spends so much money on the wife's diamond ring, he should get a new watch.I gave him the hat because it's the same brand as his watch. His gift to me was this little book. The traditional gift that the husband gets the wife on the first anniversary is paper (and actually the modern gift for the first year of marriage is a clock, so I guess his watch counts for that too). So, David was creative with the idea of paper and gave me a little book. He painted the front of it, but the paint didn't dry in time so he is going to finish it when it dries. He still won't tell me what he's going to paint on it. Anyway, he wrote inside the book that this is something he is going to write in every so often. I guess it will be what he will use instead of cards on anniversaries, birthdays, and any other special day. He is so thoughtful. I loved this gift! I also included his first painting in this picture. He painted it several months ago. Once he's done with the front of the book I will take a picture and post that too.
I just have to say that our first year of marriage was wonderful. David really is perfect for me. It is such a blessing to be able to spend so much time with just the two of us for our first couple of years being married. I know that it is strengthening our marriage so much. I am so thankful for the temple and the blessings we enjoy from being married there!
I also forgot to mention another first year anniversary tradition we participated in... eating the top of our wedding cake. Haylie and Chelsea were kind enough to box up the top of the cake from my reception. It has been frozen ever since. When I went home for Easter I brought it back in my luggage. We did not expect it to be pretty or even edible, but surprisingly enough the fondant seemed to have preserved the shape and the freezing method saved it from going bad. We didn't eat much, but at least we took part in the tradition. There is something I love about traditions.

Congratulations! I can't believe you mentioned Last Chance- everytime I hear about that store I think of Shalynna Elmore. The swimsuit is so cute and the color is great. Hope you guys had a wonderful day and now the years start flying by but it is so much fun!
Happy Anniversary! What a fun day! I'm really impressed with David's painting and gift for you. I'm glad that your cake was edible. We tried that tradition, but I don't know what happened to our cake, maybe we didn't wrap it up well enough.- it was so disgusting. Love the outfits too!

What a fun anniversary! I love how much you enjoy traditions. It's fun now that we have our own little families to start our own traditions. I really want to come visit you out there!

Hey there again girl, cammie said thanks for the happy birthday. you are so sweet. and no, the sister thing wasnt a joke. shes 16 months older than me...but my mom had her when she was 17 and her and my dad werent together and she didnt know if they ever would be. so she gave her to a family that could give her a better life. but my mom and dad got married and had me and my brothers. so yes i have a full biological sister, but not an emotional one. its complicated, right? anyway, thats it in a nutshell.
