I couldn't think of anything to post this week, so I thought some of you might enjoy A Day in the Life of David and Shalynna. Every morning we wake up to the alarm on David's Verizon phone (his service is not connected anymore, but we use his phone for an alarm), hit snooze a couple times, and wake up to get ready. I am always the one rushing David and telling him what time it is every five minutes, but every single morning, without fail, he is the first one out the door. I always use the excuse that I have to pack our lunches and that usually holds me back the extra thirty seconds.
Our car screeches a bit when we first start it and we think of it as if we are saying goodbye to our neighbors (none of them really like us because we've had two birthday parties in the pool without "notifying" anyone. We were never told that we had to tell Strata Home Owners Association. In fact we didn't even know what Strata was!) David is always the driver, which is nice because it gives me a chance to eat my cereal, which is always in a cup, and also to apply my makeup. This includes Ulta 3 eyeshadow (because I'm too cheap to buy MAC... until now. Kirk Freeport opened a MAC store so I now get 20% off and no tax!), Maybaline mascara (I don't buy it just because it's cheap. I love the stuff), Cover girl powder, and recently I have started to wear lipstick. I hate the feeling of gloss on my lips, but I feel that wearing lipstick makes me look more mature. David and I enjoy our ride to work while we listen to his iPod. Lately we have been listening to a lot of Beatles. It brings back so many memories of my older brother listening to them when he was in high school. I was so young back then, but I did anything my older brother and sisters did.
It takes about thirty minutes to get to work because of a little bit of traffic. The more cruise ships in, the better. This means higher sales for the Del Sol stores and more of a chance for me to make money. Commission can be so frustrating at times, but also very satisfying and exciting.
Here is a picture of Prachi from India, Eve from France, and myself at the Rolex counter. I love these girls. We show and sell jewelry and watches during the day. When it gets slow we enjoy talking and getting to know more about one another's cultures. A lot of talk goes on about religion. It's always great to have missionary moments and I'm really trying to share the gospel as much as possible.David also gets the opportunity to share more about the church to the girls that he works with. Their environment is a lot more layed back than the jewelry store. He keeps busy with tracking inventory, ordering and receiving shipments, and being the liaison between Del Sol and Kirk Freeport. He does a great job at what he does. He has fun with the 13 employees from both stores. Some of them can be so funny. They all love to watch Lifetime movies and they are very blunt. They recently said, "What happened to Shalynna? She looks fat." to David. They will also ask, "What's that?" when pointing to a zit. I usually respond with, "What do you think?" Every once in a while they'll make fun of David's clothing. They say that he looks like a delivery boy when he wears Polo shirts and kahkis or tell him that he has bird legs. Their honesty can be so entertaining.
David and I always eat lunch together. We eat sandwiches, leftovers, or occasionally we'll treat ourselves and eat at Fort Street Market (delicious deli sandwiches), KFC (a favorite of ours now that we live out here), or Nachos from Margaritaville (I don't like the name, but the nachos can feed three people). This particular day I made sandwiches for several people in the jewelry store. It was actually quite fun. I love winning hearts or buying love by being a good hostess. A coworker even bought me this delicious Dr. Pepper, which I rarely get to drink, just for making a couple sandwiches.
At the close of the day we are lucky enough to see a gorgeous sunset such as this one. I teach piano three days a week and David plays tennis one or two times a week. Typically we do these things on our way home.
When we finally get home I prepare an easy meal if it's been a busy day, such as this one- Campbell's tomato soup and grilled ham and cheese sandwiches. If it's Sunday or my day off or we are having the missionaries over, friends from the branch, or a visitor from Del Sol (which by the way, Andrew Allman from Del Sol came out this past week. We had a blast with him. He and David got a lot accomplished. I'm so proud of David) I will usually put together a more impressive meal. This is another way I win friendships, by offering a delicious three course meal with a scrumptious dessert. This particular day David and I baby-sat for the Cameron family. It was Alicia's birthday so she and her husband went out to dinner. I was helping Joanna with math when I overheard David reading to James. I thought it was the cutest thing, so I had to take a picture.
After work, piano lessons, tennis, dinner, and sometimes baby-sitting we will wind down by writing emails, blogging (me), watching American Idol on YouTube, calling family and friends on Vonage, or doing what we love most lately... watching episodes of LOST or 24. We are both practically falling asleep by the time we read scriptures and pray together. Sometimes one of us will say something totally random during both of these routines, but it only makes it that much more fun. We love our lives!
We hope you enjoyed A Day in the life of David and Shalynna. Now tell us, what is a typical day in your life like?

What a fun post. I was laughing so hard about the brutal honesty of David's coworkers. Hopefully they aren't working on commission or maybe they are more polite with customers:) p.s. That's my favorite mascara too.
