My Life Last Week

Last week marriage was protected and I am very thankful for that.

I don't claim to know much about politics, but this election I was very passionate. My main concern was whether Proposition 8 was going to pass in California or not. I was passionate about proposition 8 because I am passionate about marriage and family.

I don't hate gay or lesbian couples. In fact, I have a good friend, Wilmer, who has chosen the lifestyle. He's a flight attendant and we can talk about anything (usually movies) for hours and hours. I feel like Julia Roberts and George from My Best Friend's Wedding when we hang out which is the answer to my previous post. No one even tried to guess!

Back to my point. I believe that we must protect the family unit and the family starts with a husband and a wife. I was overwhelmed at the amount of people that spent time and money to promote the Yes on Prop 8 campaign and wished that I could have been more involved.

It's so sad to hear of the persecution the church is facing, but I know it can only strengthen us.

To celebrate we went out to eat with our friends Kieren and Jeff. In honor of protecting marriage.

Last week we were also protected when Hurricane Paloma came our way. I am thankful for this also.

This was our fourth hurricane since we moved here (the first one we evacuated home. It was a good excuse to surprise our families). Once again, we were blessed and the storm did not cause any damage. It was a category 3 hurricane when it went over us, about 20 miles east of the island. Of course, my precious shoes were hidden away in the washer/dryer as well as other valuables such as David's paintings, etc. I especially love hurricanes because it gives a great excuse to have a sleepover. This time we spent the night at Jeff and Kieren's place. We didn't have hurricane shutters on our windows and they live in a higher part of the island with a two story condo. Plus, they have cable and good food. :) With our combined hurricane stash of delicious treats, internet, cable, and good company we made some great memories.

Other than protecting marriage and protecting ourselves from another hurricane the rest of our attention was given to season 2 of The Office. My brother has some great stories about his job as a structural engineer at a concrete company in Pennsylvania. The things he tells me remind me exactly of something that would happen on an episode of The Office. It was only too perfect that he had already made this video earlier this year. Enjoy.

I am glad that you posted that. I really do think that we need to have a pretend hurricane and have you two come and sleepover just because it would be so fun.

Yay for marriage! Did you ever see any of the "No on Prop 8" commercials? We couldn't help but laugh because they were SO ridiculous! (The one about the missionaries anyway) Thanks for your post though it was very uplifting!! OH, and Jd's brothers are doing well the one in your class was prolly Joel and he is getting married soon. Or it might have been Jordan and he is on a mission now!

I love Simon's videos. I am looking forward to his newest one! The girls end up watching them over and over so I can't wait.

We stayed up so late watching the results for Prop 8. We had to finally go to bed and then it still took forever the next day. But we were so happy! I too am grateful for those that gave of their time and money.

Great news about Prop 8! And I'm sure Simon will be glad to see another one of his videos out in circulation. :)
