I always think it's cute when people tribute a blog post to a family member, so this week I thought I'd write about my dad, Elmo the auctioneer. Anyone who knows my dad knows that he is one of the friendliest people. He will do anything for anyone- it doesn't matter if you are a lifelong friend or someone he met in a grocery store line. I've always been so proud of him for his unique profession of being an auctioneer. Every year look forward to our annual trip to Washington state where he auctions and my brother Simon and I are ring men. My dad is famous anywhere we go- Utah, California, Arizona, Washington. People always seem to know Elmo. He can walk into any places like McDonald's, Del Taco, or Rally's and order, "the usual," and they always know what he means. He is very generous. There was one time when several people in Del Taco uniforms were at my house. I was wondering why in the world they were all in our front yard and then I realized that my dad was giving them our old trampoline, a TV, and some of his old suits for one of the lady's husband. You can also find him giving out Del Sol color changing key chains or rings to kids all around Mesa or the kids at Disney World. My dad is not ashamed to wear hand-me-downs from Ross Farnsworth or defected clothing from Del Sol because it saves him money. He has taught me to save my money, along with many other lessons. Chelsea Goodman once said something like, "Elmo fills a hole in Mesa that would be empty if he wasn't here," and I completely agree. I love my dad and I am so proud of him!

That was such a sweet post! It made me tear up. I love seeing people who you can tell just love and appreciate their dad so much! Thanks for that. And I think the reason you can't go to Ky's blog is because it is like expired or something. I've tried too. She can still post without having a blog though. Ky...if you read this...we want to look at and comment on your blog!!!
My favorite post I have ever read! Absolutely loved it! We have the best dad.
I have to tell you what happened yesterday - I was at the mall having lunch at the food court with a friend (Amber). A young mother came up to me and asked if my dad was Elmo. I had never seen her in my life. She recognized the girls and figured out it was from seeing them at the park with him!
oh elmo. i miss that man and his undercooked eggs. ha ha. he is so sweet and thats cute of you to write about your dad like that!
Hey Sha Sha,
I am leaving for Utah today. I just wanted to say "bye" and I hope you have a good Thanksgiving(or whatever they do down there!)
Love you,
Kelly
He is one of a kind! Thanks for your words, lil' sis; you summed up a lot in your write-up. We have such a dynamic family, and a lot of it has to do with him. I always liked how daddy would be so proud of us and shower us with encouraging words as we grew up... "you're the smartest" or "you're the prettiest" (that comment is more for the girls!) or "you're so clever". He still says things like this. I miss everyone! Love and Holiday Happiness...
